Looking at the history of Sikkim, the Namgyal Dynasty founded the Kingdom of Sikkim in the 17th century. During that time Sikkim was ruled by the great Buddhist priest-king named Chogyal. Sikkim got the status as the 22nd state of India after the abolishment of the monarchy in 1975 and this decision turned out to be the golden period of Sikkim as most of the developmental work started since then. The economy of Sikkim is dependent upon tourism and since many years tourism has been the main factor that has given Sikkim the nationwide respect.

It is a multiethnic and multilingual state dominated by Nepali culture and traditions. Rai, Limbu, Sherpa, Bhutia, Lepcha, Magar and Tamang are the main group of people at Sikkim. Sikkimese people follow the Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism religion along with many glorious festivals. The captivating scenes of nature and the panoramic views of the Himalayas is something that cannot be missed at any cost. Both natural and historical perfection of Sikkim has been ruling the hearts of the visitors for many years.
